Since I purchased my Vitamix, I’ve been making smoothies every morning for breakfast. Having a smoothie for breakfast is wonderful for me because I get a lot of vitamins and good nutrients that I need for the day in one glass of smoothie. I know I should eat lots of veggies and fruits but sometimes it’s just hard to eat them in salad or just raw. It’s way easier for me to eat them in a smoothie and I really love all the smoothies I’ve been making lately.
I love Green Smoothies. See this green smoothie recipe that I made the other day. This smoothie has peach, mango, banana, and spinach. I usually add soy milk to my smoothies. It adds a nice flavor to fruity smoothies. It also adds a nice texture to smoothies too.
The combination of peaches and mangos is pretty amazing, I think. You can use pineapples instead of one of them. Pineapples are super expensive around here and I happened to get lots of really tasty peaches at an Asian market for $1.50. I sliced them up and froze them all! I recommend that you buy fresh fruits for smoothies instead of buying already frozen fruits. A lot cheaper and tastier, too.
I like thicker smoothies but if you like thinner texture, add more liquid to your smoothie. Smoothies are great because you get to choose how much of what to put in them.
- 1 cup soy milk (or milk of your choice)
- ½ banana, fresh or frozen
- 1 cup chopped frozen mango (or fresh)
- ½ cup frozen peach slices
- 2 cups fresh spinach
- ½ cup of ice
- Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add more liquid or ice as needed to reach your desired texture.
