Panfried Tofu with Soy Sesame Dressing

When I feel lazy to do a lot of work in the kitchen, I always turn to simple recipes that takes ten minutes or less.

And this recipe is one of them.

Tofu (Dubu in Korean) is something that I grew up with. It’s very popular in Korea and growing up, I think we always had some kind of Dubu dish on the table almost every day.

Every grocery store sold freshly cut Dubu everyday. It was never packaged in a box. I really miss freshly out warm Dubus they sell in Korea. It’s so soft and so delicious, too. Someday, I will have to master how to make fresh Dubus at home. If I feel so dedicated, I will…

This recipe is rather simple. I cut tofu in squares. I used the one from Costco. They are packaged with four precut tofu rectangles.

TofuI used two of those cuts, but you can use half of a regular tofu. I panfried the tofu, on all six sides until they were golden brown.

Then topped it with my favorite soy sesame sauce that I use for dipping sauce for Korean Mandu (potstickers).

Ingredients

  • ½ tofu, cut into 1½ inch squares
  • cooking spray or oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Korean pepper flakes (gochugaru)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • green onions, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Coat large pan with cooking spray or heat oil over medium high heat. Pan fry the tofu squares on all sides, until golden brown.
  2. In bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, gochugaru, sesame seeds and green onions together.
  3. Top the tofu with the sauce and serve warm.
